This is the time where people either continue to do the same thing and become frustrated as nothing is changing or they reach out and learn new ways to help them through their difficulties.

My method of working with clients is underpinned by neuroscience and understanding how our brains work and how this can help us to manage the challenges we face much more accurately and effectively.

One of the key strengths to my way of working is that I am able to rapidly identify and work with core issues that have been causing my clients difficulty and support them to make positive changes.

I have over 15 experience of supporting clients in many different ways ranging from Goal setting and achieving success in their Careers and Personal lives through to learning how to successfully manage Anxiety and Stress as well as issues around Self-confidence, Identity, Anger, Low mood and Depression and much more.

Through my experience as a Counsellor I have come to understand the importance of creating an empowering relationship with my clients based on acceptance, non-judgement, compassion, honesty, empathy and understanding.

Through working with my clients, I have found that when these conditions are present within our therapeutic relationship it makes it possible for my clients to feel safe and secure enough to explore the issues and fears that are causing them distress and to move towards making changes.

I am trained and experienced in various therapeutic modalities that I can blend together to create a unique model of working depending on the needs of the client.

I work with both short-term solutions focussed therapy as well as longer term therapy.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is the psychotherapeutic approach that looks at the link between our thoughts, feelings and behaviour and how we are influenced by this interaction which then affects how we perceive ourselves, others and the world

CBT also acknowledges the role of underlying beliefs, often out of our awareness, which tend to be the ‘power house’ of our thoughts, feelings and behaviours and which are crucial when making therapeutic changes when using CBT.

By taking the time to bring into our awareness what it is we are thinking and uncovering our thought patterns which have become habitual over time it is possible to bring about therapeutic changes in any distortions in our beliefs and thought patterns which may be causing us distress.

I can support you to change the way you think about an event to enable you to change the way you feel about it and consequently change how you behave which results in achieving a more helpful outcome in any given situation.

I often tend to incorporate Mindfulness exercises alongside my CBT work as this supports my clients in being able to recognise unhelpful thought, feelings and behaviour patterns without becoming overwhelmed by them.


The first question to ask yourself before embarking on your Coaching journey is ‘ What do I want’? Often this is where many people experience difficulty and for various reasons. I can support you to identify what it is you would like to gain through Coaching and to then work with you to formulate a plan to turn what it is you want into actionable steps for you to take in order to achieve your aim.

Because I have trained and worked as a Counsellor and Therapist for over 15 years, I am able to bring a deeper understanding to any issues that may be stopping you from reaching your potential and help you to overcome these along your Coaching journey.

Whatever it is you would like Coaching for I have been able to support hundreds of clients throughout my career to gain awareness and become empowered to identify their challenges, face them and make positive, life changing decisions.

Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming

All of my clients come to me at the stage where everything they have tried in order to solve their problem no longer works.

It may have been that what they were doing did at some point provide some relief from their difficulty but now what was once a solution has become the problem.

An example could be that as a teenager I decided to smoke to fit in with friends but now as an adult I no longer have that same need but I am experiencing health problems and am stuck with the habit. What we see here is how a solution has now become a problem.

I can help you to change unwanted habits and behaviours rapidly and effectively using the Psychotherapeutic approaches of Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).

By using the skills of Hypnotherapy it’s possible to make lasting therapeutic changes at a very deep unconscious level which then manifest on a conscious level and is experienced in changes in thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

By understanding how we structure and remember an experience through our senses it is possible to effect positive and lasting change through the use of NLP by cognitive restructuring of our experiences to be more in tune with who we are today.

Supervision & Reflective Practice

I provide supervision and reflective practice to individual counsellors, groups and to those working in supporting professions such as mental health workers, substance misuse workers and those working with homeless and vulnerable clients.

Through supervision my supervisees are able to reflect on the work they carry out with clients and are able to identify how and when they are working effectively and also to recognise where there may be a need for further support for both clients and themselves.

By supporting my supervisees to develop more self-awareness they are able to progress as practitioners.

My own interest and practice of Mindfulness has and continues to inform the way I work with my clients .

Many of the difficulties we face in our lives are generated due to us not experiencing situations from the person we are today but from who we were in the past.

This is because one of the ways our minds operate is that we take information from a present situation, try and make sense of it from past experiences and then project our past experience onto the current situation and possibly into future experiences.

As you can imagine this can lead to us accessing thoughts and emotions that can leave us feeling sad, anxious or depressed and feeling trapped between a seemingly difficult past and an uncertain future. However what does happen is that we are not present to what is actually taking place.


I work mindfully with my clients to enable them to develop greater self-awareness and self-control over their thoughts and emotions and to learn how to respond to situations rather than react to them.

Some of the areas I work with Mindfulness with clients are:

Mindfulness Training Workshop

Ahmet Mehmet provided a Mindfulness Workshop to the European HR team at our recent offsite, which had a wellbeing theme.

The workshop was engaging and informative as well as offering practical exercises to use and take away.

It inspired good discussion amongst participants which helped the team to gain a better insight into the possible wellbeing benefits to employees of providing such activities in the workplace, as well as providing space and personal time-out to a very tired senior HR team! It was a great foundation to our understanding as an HR team of what ‘mindfulness’ can achieve in terms of workforce wellbeing and resilience.

Mental Health Awareness Workshop

Since the training, there have been lots of conversations – and staff have been opening up both to management and each other about difficulties and sharing things with us that they weren’t previously.

I was in the first session myself, and not only found the session really helpful personally- but saw that it has opened a door that I believe was previously closed within our office.

When I asked Sammy to source training around mental health, I really felt it would be well received within the business, but it has had a greater impact that even I could have imagined.

The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and staff were genuinely grateful to have received it. You also made it accessible to everyone and ensured some quite complex elements were very easy to understand
